You can order the cover on its own if the recipient already has inserts, or the cover with a plump insert included.

The common sizes are 18 x 18 in and 20 x 20 in; the larger one suits a deep sofa, the smaller one a bed or a reading chair. Covers have a hidden zip along one edge and go in a cold machine wash, which matters for a piece that will be leaned on for years.

Popular designs carry a family name across the centre, a wedding date, a pet portrait line, or a short quote the person actually says.
